Black Friday headphones deals: our predictions
Black Friday is always a fantastic time to find headphones deals, on everything from cheap in-ears to over-ear cans you can use for analytical listening in the studio.
This year we’re expecting more of the same – and that means you’re almost certain to find discounts on the Apple headphones, Beats headphones, Sony headphones, and Bose headphones.
Now that they’re a few years old, the 2019 AirPods will likely see some big discounts, which means you can expect prices to dip below $99 / £99 – especially now that the AirPods 3 have been announced. The noise-cancelling AirPods Pro and the over-ear AirPods Max are also likely to be discounted, with the later likely to see discounts of around $100 / £100, echoing deals we’ve seen this year.
Apple’s headphones don’t just include AirPods, though; Beats headphones are likely to see some big discounts, and we think the Beats Powerbeats Pro will be included in the Black Friday sales now that the Beats Studio Buds are here.
Sony headphones are always popular over Black Friday, too, and older-gen models like the Sony WH-1000XM3 and the WF-1000XM3 will probably drop even further in price in the next few weeks. We’d expect to see current-gen models such as the WH-1000XM4 and the WF-1000XM4 get their biggest price cuts on the big day itself on November 26.
As for cheap headphones deals? You can pretty much pick up a pair of super budget-friendly earbuds from Amazon at any time of year, but the really impressive price cuts will start creeping in over the next few weeks. Look out for deals on headphones from JLab, 1MORE, EarFun, and Lypertek if you’re on a strict budget.

When will the best Black Friday headphones deals start in 2021?
Black Friday officially falls on November 26 this year, but we’ve already seen some stellar discounts. Traditionally the biggest discounts are released on Black Friday itself, but in recent years headphone deals have started earlier and earlier.
This trend is very different to how it used to be, when prices would drop sharply on the day itself and then quickly rise again. However, retailers had a huge incentive to run their Black Friday sales even longer than usual last year because of the Covid-19 pandemic, far beyond Cyber Monday.
With most brick-and-mortar stores closed, more people than ever were forced to shop online: data from Adobe Analytics shows more than a 50% increase in 2020 compared to 2019. This made shipping delays caused by pandemic restrictions even worse, so the extended deals came in to help make sure retailers could get their products to shoppers in time for the holiday season.
Although restrictions are being lifted in many parts of the world, we’re expecting to see a longer holiday sales period again this year, and we predict some headphone deals will stick around until December. However, if you do see an offer you like it’s worth grabbing it while you can in case stock runs out – especially as we’re in the midst of a global chip shortage that has led to production delays for many manufacturers.
We’ll be rounding up the very best Black Friday headphones deals here. We’ll tell you which offers are worth it – and which to avoid – so bookmark this page and keep checking back..

Tips for buying headphones over Black Friday
Let’s start with the basics. If you’re looking to buy a new pair of headphones, the easiest way to get started is to consider the form factor you like best: in-ear headphones, on-ear headphones, or over-ear headphones.
Many headphones these days come with wireless connectivity, which is really handy if you’re going to be using them while commuting. Saying that, the fidelity offered by a cable will appeal to audiophiles that want to get the most out of their hi-res audio files.
There are also lots of extra features to keep in mind, like active noise cancellation, which helps to keep environmental noise from ruining your music. And, if you’re going to be working out with your new headphones, you should look for an IP water-resistance rating, which will ensure a little sweat or rain won’t break them.

If you’re after pure performance, you can’t beat the Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones, (that sit at the top of our best headphones of 2021 list). By every possible metric, the Sony WH-1000XM4 are a wonderful pair of wireless noise-cancelling headphones. They deliver exactly what they promise and then some thanks to their exceptional noise cancellation and cutting-edge codec support.
Alternatively, if you prefer in-ear headphones, then look out for Black Friday deals on the 1More Triple Drivers. These were already a bargain at their RRP of $100 / £100 but during discount season you can expect to see them sell for much less.
Finally, if you’re after some headphones to help you power through your next workout, why not try the Adidas RPT-01 wireless on-ear sport headphones. We think they’re the best workout headphones of 2021 thanks to their breathable design and far longer battery life than any true wireless earbuds. The headband and ear cushions can be removed and washed after particularly sweaty sessions; and while the sound quality isn’t the finest we’ve ever heard, the RPT-01s are suitably loud and bassy, which is something you’ll want to push you through those final reps.
How much should I spend on headphones this Black Friday?
The headphones you buy over Black Friday might be largely dictated by your budget. The good news is that a tight budget doesn’t mean you have to compromise on great sound, design, and features.
Trusted brands such as Sony, Jabra, Cambridge Audio, and Lypertek all offer budget-friendly headphones that don’t skimp on the specs for under $100 / £100.
But what about the super cheap headphones and earbuds you see on Amazon? It pays to do some research, and if you haven’t heard of a brand before it’s well worth checking out our reviews at TechRadar to see if you should bother with their headphones.
You should also be aware that if you want premium features such as ANC, or you want your headphones to be made from high-quality materials, you’ll probably need to spend a little more.
The great thing about Black Friday is that these more premium headphones can be reduced to really reasonable prices, so it’s worth holding on until November 26 if you have your eye on a particularly pricey pair.
The 3 best headphones to look for on Black Friday

If you’re looking for headphones that can do it all this Black Friday, the Sony WH-1000XM4 are the best all-rounders you can buy.
These wonderful noise-cancelling headphones don’t look different from their predecessors, the Sony WH-1000XM3, but new features, including multipoint pairing, DSEE Extreme upscaling, conversational awareness and auto-play/pause using a built-in sensor, mean they’re a significant upgrade.
The Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones also support Sony’s 360 Reality Audio format, which enables spatial audio on stereo headphones, plus the LDAC codec that can send a bitrate of up to 990 kbps.
Last year’s Black Friday deals saw in some excellent Sony WH-1000XM4 deals, so it’s well worth keeping your eyes peeled in the run up to this year’s sale event.

The AirPods Pro are the best AirPods you can buy in 2021 bringing active noise cancellation, a snug fit, and an improved design to the company’s previous true wireless earbuds.
Now that they’re a little older, we think they’ll see some steep discounts this Black Friday – and if you’re on a very strict budget, the non-noise-cancelling 2019 AirPods are also likely to be discounted heavily.
Saying that, the AirPods Pro are much better-sounding that their predecessors –there’s a notable emphasis on vocals and bass, meaning these earbuds are better for pop fans than those who enjoy a more natural presentation that lends itself to classical music or more orchestral sounds.
Apparently, there’s a new AirPods model on the horizon to join the original buds and the newer Pros. The AirPods Pro 2 are rumored to be a new, cheaper variant of the company’s popular true wireless earbuds, and they could be released in 2022 – which makes Black Friday AirPods Pro deals even more likely.
